One of the most experienced players on the squad he is the definition of a team player as he listens and does what the coaches ask of him. A hardwork with a great attitude.

"Josh has persevered a long time in this program and has made a lot of plays through his time here, and never really been in a position to have a foothold on that starting spot and has remained steadfast in his perseverance."
OSU: Hawkins started 11 games for his career, all his senior
season at flanker...registered 38 receptions (third on the team) in 2005, accounting
for 393 yards and two touchdowns...he scored five touchdowns for his career...made
a career-high six receptions vs. Boise State as a senior...for his career he played
44 games...his four career touchdowns came against Oregon (2005, 2001), Boise
State (2005), USC (2004) and New Mexico (2003)...played special teams early in
his career – returned 33 punts for 211 yards as a true freshman in 2001...also
had three kickoff returns for 65 yards against Fresno State in 2003...redshirted
in 2002.
LONG BEACH POLY: PrepStar Magazine selected Josh to its All-American
team and as the 11th best receiver on the West Coast...Long Beach Press-Telegram
Best in the West team...first team All-CIF Southern Section and second team
all-state...played for head coach Jarry Jaso...for his varsity career he caught
62 passes for 1,528 yards and 24 touchdowns...had touchdown receptions of 86
yards as a senior and 72 yards as a junior...also returned punts as a senior,
averaging 23.2 yards per return and scoring three touchdowns...Poly was 14-0
his final prep season...as a senior he had 39 receptions for 798 yards and 13
touchdowns...competed in the 100 meters and 110-meter hurdles as a junior...earned
two letters in track.
PERSONAL: Born in West Covina, California...son of David and
Mary Hawkins...has one brother, Julian... majored in speech communication with
an emphasis on broadcasting.
