Biography:
THE STATS: The top wide receiver on the West Coast and despite missing five games in the 2003 season due to an academic issue (that was resolved) he still managed to catch 29 passes for 470 yards and nine touchdowns for a team that won all of their games. Likely the highest rated high school wide receiver who has ever signed with Oregon. Announced his decision exclusively on ESPN’s Sports Center to a national television audience where he donned a UO cap to end the suspense and said, “I’ll be a Duck”. “I am a Randy Moss type of receiver” Colvin told the announcer. “I like to go up and get the ball… I like to take over a game and be the playmaker.”

SuperPrep Magazine ranked Colvin as the 17th best player on their national Elite 50 list in the January 2004 All-America issue. SuperPrep also ranks him as the 2nd best player in California and the 4th best receiver in the nation. In their January 2004 issue, PrepStar Magazine selected Cameron for Dream Team honors and ranked him as the second best receiver in the nation. Colvin was also picked the #1 rated player for the Long Beach Press Telegram’s “Best in the West” list. The Contra Costa Times piled on and tabbed Colvin as the top rated player for their All-Bay Area “Cream of the Crop” list. In January Cameron played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which is widely believed to be the top high school football all-star game in the country. He was selected to the Tacoma News Tribune 2004 Western 100.

"I'm a great deep guy and I have good body control. I'm quick off the ball and I can go across the middle. I need to run better routes, have more precision and not drift-- just have better all around footwork."

Colvin picked Oregon over offers from USC and Michigan.

GPA: 2.6 SAT: 860 ACT: 17

STRENGTH: He bench presses 275 pounds and has a squat of 430 pounds. At the Nike Camp he ran a blistering 4.31 forty, a 3.85 second 20 yard shuttle, benched 185 pounds thirteen times and measured 32.4” in the vertical jump.

PROJECTED POSITION: Wide Receiver

WHY OREGON? Colvin was interviewed on ESPN and made a live announcement:

"It was a tough choice. I had USC, Michigan and Oregon. USC is a great school, Their recruiting class this year has to be one of the best ever. Michigan, it would be great to play with guys like Braylon Edwards, they are a great school. The University of Oregon, I would like to play with a lot of my teammates from last year. For some help, I'd like to call in my Godfather to help pick out this hat. I had a lot of tough choices, so I think (pause to put on the hat) I'll go with the University of Oregon. I'll be a Duck."

HS COACH QUOTE: De La Salle Defensive Coordinator Terry Eidson told the Contra Costa Times, “He’s (Colvin) one of those who could do something everyday in practice, athletically, that can make you shake your head in amazement.”
