One Last Task to Accomplish

One Last Task to Accomplish

Senior tight end Ed Dickson has accomplished a lot of things during his time at Oregon. He earned his Bachelor's degree prior to the start of the season. He is the all-time leading tight end receiver with 124 catches for 1,557 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also has 12 tackles including a tackle for loss. He played in the Holiday, Sun and Las Vegas Bowls and now a chance to go to the Rose Bowl.

As the Oregon Ducks prepare for the 113th annual Civil War against Oregon State at Autzen Stadium this Thursday, Dickson is very clear on what must happen. The Ducks must win the Civil War.

It might be easy to simply look at what the Ducks did to the Beavers last year in Corvallis when the Ducks 65-38. Dickson had two catches in that game for 81 yards including a 45-yard touchdown catch. However, Dickson recognizes that both teams are different this year and to make anything out of the win last year is pointless if Oregon fails to repeat the task this year.

Dickson's biggest statistical game of the season was against California when he grabbed 11 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns. The performance earned him the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Player of the Week as well as the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors. Dickson is also a semi-finalist for the 2009 John Mackey Award (for the nation's top tight end).

Still though, for Dickson all the honors, awards and recognition is a result of the hard work he and his teammates have put in. Each week the focus was on the next game and as he approaches the last time he'll don an Oregon uniform in a game at Autzen Stadium, it comes down to one thing -- winning the Civil War.
