Oregon's special teams, defense and offense came to life in that order in the second quarter and the Ducks roared back to take a 15-6 lead against the Washington Huskies.

Trailing 3-0 headed into the second quarter, the Ducks' Rory Cavaille blocked a punt causing the ball to bounce into the endzone. Tyrell Irving recovered the ball for the touchdown. Back up quarterback ran the ball in for the 2-point conversion giving Oregon an 8-3 lead.

Later in the quarter as the Ducks faced 4th and goal at their own 2, Oregon defense forced Husky quarterback Jake Locker to scramble and loft an ill-advised throw into the endzone where Javes Lewis picked it off. Oregon's offense took over, driving the ball 80 yards capped off by a 1-yard scoring run by Jeremiah Masoli.

Things looked well in hand for Oregon but a series of calls at the end of the half allowed the ball to be moved to the Oregon 38. Erik Folk was good on the attempt. He earlier had hit a 33-yarder in the first quarter.
