EUGENE – University of Oregon offensive line coach Steve Greatwood has been named college football’s 2008 Offensive Line Coach of the Year according to FootballScoop.com.

Greatwood tutored an offensive line that helped the Ducks lead the Pacific-10 Conference in rushing for the third year in a row (277.8-yard avg.) while ranking fourth in the country in rushing offense. In addition, Oregon finished the regular season seventh nationally in scoring offense (41.9 avg.) and eighth in total offense (478.2 avg.).

The Oregon graduate and program’s associate head coach, who has completed 24 seasons on the Ducks’ coaching staff, also was recognized as one of the top assistant coaches in the country by Rivals.com following the 2006 campaign.

Oregon’s offense also established school records for most yards rushing (3,334), rushing touchdowns (42), total touchdowns (65) and points scored (503) in 2008, while finishing second in the Pac-10 (t34th nationally) in fewest quarterback sacks allowed (18).

Greatwood will receive the award at the American Football Coaches Association convention in January in Nashville, Tenn.
