Ducks to Face Cowboys in Holiday Bowl

The Pacific Life Holiday Bowl committee today announced that the University of Oregon Ducks will face the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Dec. 30th in San Diego.

"Both teams finished 9-3 and we expect a great game," said Holiday Bowl President Larry Baber.

This is Oregon's third trip to the Holiday Bowl in Oregon Head Coach Mike Bellotti's tenure in Eugene. The Ducks finished 9-3 for the season and 7-2 in the Pacific-10 Conference with a 65-38 win over Oregon State. Because both Oregon and Oregon State finished with identical 7-2 records in the conference race and tied for second place, Oregon was chosen because of the head-to-head competition.

Interestingly, the Cowboys' headman Mike Gundy, is a member of the Holiday Bowl's Hall of Fame for a game he participated in 1988 featuring Barry Sanders.

Oregon will travel to San Diego on Dec. 25th to begin final preparations for the bowl game that will kickoff at 5 p.m on Dec. 30th at Qualcom Stadium in San Diego.
