EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon defensive end Nick Reed has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The prestigious honor is the second straight for the senior from Trabuco Canyon, Calif.

The Pac-10 sacks leader, who ranks seventh in the nation with 0.91 per game this season, has maintained a 3.44 grade point average in History and is scheduled to complete his degree requirements by the end of fall term. He was the only Pac-10 player among the 24 first team selections.

Reed is one of seven players in UO history to garner Academic All-America status and just the second to receive multiple awards, joining offensive lineman Ryan Schmid (2000, 2001).

One of eight semifinalists for the Lott Trophy this season, Reed ranks second on the Oregon career lists for sacks (26.5) and tackles for loss (48.5).
