The University of Missouri already has one commitment from a Texas quarterback and appears to have…
Ducks talk to Texas Gunslinger
Reeve thinks his quarterback is a skilled athlete who "throws the ball well, having a gun for an arm."
Arndt is having a good season this year leading his team to a 6-1 record. So far this year he has thrown 17 touchdowns. As a sophomore Arndt threw for 2,510 yards and 26 touchdowns, completing about 75 percent of his passes. He also had a 58-yard touchdown run. According to Reeve his quarterback "runs a solid 4.6 flat." Perhaps though the strongest asset Arndt has is something less tangible.
"Best thing about Tyler is composure," said Reeve of Arndt. "He does a lot of good things."
Reeve has coached a number outstanding quarterbacks in his career. One name Duck fans may remember is Ty Detmeir before the former BYU signal caller started playing for his dad. Another quarterback Reeve has worked with is Derek Anderson in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl following Anderson's senior season at Scappoose High School. Reeve thinks that Arndt has similar size and arm strength as Anderson, but is faster than the now Cleveland Brown.
Another of Reeve's former signal callers is Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is someone that Arndt reminds Reeve of. Stafford, the former Parade All-American, was a Scout.com 5-star quarterback and was ranked No. 2 nationally in 2005.
While Arndt is drawing lots of attention on the field, off the field he is a very good student. He is 15th in his class. The school has an enrollment of 750 students.
Recruiting is really heating up for Arndt. So far he has an offer from Nebraska and has been hearing from school all over the country including Alabama, LSU, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, all the Division I schools in the Lone Star State including Texas and Texas Tech and now Oregon.
