No. 66 Is Camp OL MVP
Last year Fairfax had a tough go of it as the Lions only won one game and lost nine. However there was a pretty good reason for it -- the squad only had two seniors and a junior with the rest made up of sophomores. This year they plan to turn things around and big part of that will come with Solomon's leadership.
Solomon has only been at Fairfax for a year. His sophomore year was spent at Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. One of Solomon's teammates at Glenville was Jermale Hines, the 4-star rated, No. 16 ranked SLB that signed a national letter of intent to Ohio State last February. Hines incidentally, happens to be Solomon's cousin.
Recruiting-wise, Solomon is sending a tape to the Oregon coaching staff and he feels he's very close to an offer. Coach Don Pellum is his primary contact so far, but he's also had contact with offensive line coach Steve Greatwood. Solomon is being recruited specifically as a center as the Ducks foresee and opening at that position by the time Solomon gets into college. He must have caught the coach's eye because Solomon was awarded the honor of MVP for senior offensive linemen.
"Oregon is my number one school by far," Solomon said of the recruiting process. "I'm being recruited by everybody in the Pac-10 with the exception of Arizona and USC. I'm also hearing from Boise State and Colorado State."
Washington is also recruiting Solomon very hard along with Washington State. He has an offer on the table from Colorado State and it's likely he's going to be getting more soon.
The trip to Eugene was a great time not only for football but also gave Jonathan a chance to see the campus and the city. He came away with some good feelings for the area and said "I loved it" when asked how the trip to Eugene went.
We have a feeling we'll be hearing more about No. 66 as the recruiting season progresses.
