Ducks Pick Up Texas Commit

The Oregon Ducks received a verbal commitment last night from the state of Texas.

Wide receiver Blake Cantu, 6-0, 200, Southlake (Texas) Carroll HS, verbally committed to the Oregon Ducks last night according to his mother, Gwen.

Blake had 80 receptions for 1,283 yards last year and 14 touchdowns for a team that finished 16-0 and won the Texas 5A D1 Championship, over Westlake of Austin at the AlamoDome in San Antonio. In fact, the Dragons average contest was a 47-11 blowout over 16 games and the only score that was a 22-21 win over Trinity (Eueless) in the playoffs.

Cantu's awards include: 2006, 5-5A 1st Team All District, 5A Super Team All Area, TSWA 1st Team All State, 5Atexasfootball.com 1st Team all State, Chevy MVP-Carroll vs. Trinity. In 2005 he was the 6-5A Sophomore of the Year.
