Brooks in 3-Point Contest at Final Four

ATLANTA — Senior point guard Aaron Brooks, coming off of his 27-point performance in Oregon's Elite Eight loss to the defending national champion Florida Gators, will participate in the NABC's three-point shooting competition Thursday in Atlanta.

Named as a third team All-American by the Associated Press and second team All-America by The Sporting News, Brooks shot 40.4 percent on three-pointers this season (80-198). His 80 three-pointers made ranked tied for ninth on the UO single-season list and was second on the team behind freshman Tajuan Porter, who set the Pac-10 single-season freshman record with 110 three-pointers.

The Seattle, Wash., native is currently leading the Pac-10 in scoring at 17.7 points per game, which has also garnered him a spot on the Wooden Award All-America Team, announced Wednesday. He is poised to become the first Duck to win the Pac-10 scoring title since Terrell Brandon in 1990-91 (26.6 ppg).

Brooks' scheduled competition will include Texas A&M's Acie Law IV, Stephen Sir of Northern Arizona, Colin Falls of Notre Dame, Adam Haluska of Iowa, Jarrius Jackson of Texas Tech, Demetris Nichols of Syracuse and Kammron Taylor of Wisconsin.

The event will be broadcast on ESPN at 6 p.m. PDT alongside a slam dunk competition for men and a three-point competition for women' players. The competition, which is sponsored by State Farm, will be held at Georgia State University.
