EUGENE, Ore. — Jordan Kent announced on Friday that he will forgo his final season of basketball eligibility in order to pursue a career in professional football.
Kent, a redshirt senior from Eugene, Ore., who is the son of men’s basketball head coach
Ernie Kent
, played wide receiver for the Ducks the past two seasons on the football field, and has received an invitation to participate the Jan. 17 Las Vegas All-American Classic.
,br> Starting 12 of 13 games,
Jordan Kent
was the Ducks’ second leading receiver this season with 44 catches for 491 yards and four touchdowns. In his two-year career, Kent collected 47 receptions for 605 yards and five touchdowns.
On the basketball court, Kent played in 81 games over the past three seasons, starting 21. He compiled 254 points (3.1 per game), 265 rebounds (3.3 per game), 73 assists and 49 steals.
Kent, who has already completed his graduation requirements for his degree in business administration, said he has left open the possibility of returning to
Oregon
this spring to compete in his final season of outdoor track, where he is a four-time All-American. Kent anchored the 4x100 meter relay team that won Oregon’s first-ever Pac-10 title in that event in 2006, and was the 2003 NCAA West Regional 200 meter champion.
Kent, who lettered in all three sports during the 2005-06 season, is the first three-sport letterman at Oregon since World War II.
