Football Recruit Admitted to University

EUGENE – University of Oregon football signee Marvin Johnson will join the school's football team in the fall following a plea of guilty to misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing and harassment Monday morning in Lane County Circuit Court.

Johnson (Compton, Calif.), who had previously been admitted to the University, was originally charged with burglary and sexual abuse in connection with an incident during the weekend of Jan. 13 when he and another high school football recruit were on a recruiting visit to Eugene. Following the incident the Ducks ceased their recruitment of Major Culbert, who then went on to sign a letter of intent at the University of Nebraska.

Johnson voluntarily turned himself in to Eugene law enforcement authorities and was arraigned on May 24 before being released without bail. He was scheduled to return to court June 28.
