Two reported arrested

An arrest warrant issued by the Eugene (Ore.) Police Department was served on Major Culbert by police in California last week for Burglary I and Sexual Abuse I. According to Eugene Police spokesperson Kerry Delf the arrest was made as a result of an alleged incident that took place in January 2006.

According to the Eugene Register-Guard, Marvin Johnson was also arrested in connection with the same incident and on the same charges. The Register-Guard online story indicated Johnson was arraigned Wednesday morning in Lane County Circuit Court and released on his own recognizance. He will return to court on June 28th.

The alleged incident involved female resident in an off-campus dormitory.

No other details were available.

Johnson and Culbert were visiting the Oregon football program on the same weekend (January 13-15).

Johnson had given the Ducks a verbal commitment just after New Year's day in January and later official confirmed the commitment when he sent a National Letter of Intent to Oregon on February 1st. Johnson, 5-10, 185, Compton (Calif.) Dominguez HS, was a quarterback in high school but was recruited by Oregon as a safety. Johnson led his team to the California Division III State Championship this season by beating Notre Dame HS (Sherman Oaks) 41-14, and posted a 13-1 record.

Culbert, 5-11, 195, Harbor City (Calif.) Nathaniel Narbonne HS, was a 3-star prospect and ranked 31st nationally at his position signed a National Letter of Intent with Nebraska on February 1st this year.
