The Oregon Ducks (4-2) wanted to get back to the business of winning basketball games on Saturday in McArthur Court in Eugene against the Georgetown Hoyas. Unfortunately the Ducks hit a 9-minutes cold streak in the first half of the game and never got back on track and lost to the Hoyas, 71-57.

Oregon shot at a frosty .408 from the field game (20-49) for the game and an ice cold 7-for-17 from the free throw line.
The Ducks never were able to use their athletic ability to increase the tempo of the game and had to settle for a perimeter game against a tough Georgetown defense. Georgetown's big man,
Roy Hibbert
, 7-2 was free to clog up the middle to shut off the Ducks from any inside scoring. The Ducks had built a 12-4 lead at one point in the first half but went cold from the field and the Hoyas continued to steadily chip away until the took the lead.
Georgetown led at halftime, 28-23.
Ashanti Cook
was the leading scorer for the game with 25, Hibbert had 16 and Brandon Bowman had 13 for Georgetown.
Malik Hairston paced the Ducks with 17 while
Aaron Brooks
had 13 and
Bryce Taylor
had 12.
The Ducks are off for the rest of the week and will be back in action next Saturday in Portland at the Papè Jam against
Illinois
. Tip-off for the Illinois game is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST.
