The Oregon Ducks (10-1, 7-1) fresh off a 56-14 thumping of Oregon State (5-6) in the 109th annual Civil War on Saturday moved up three spots to seventh in the latest BCS rankings as released by The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame, Inc. The Ducks moved up because of Miami (Fla.) dropped from 3rd to 9th as a result of its loss to 14-10 loss to No. 17 Georgia Tech (7-3). Also, Alabama (9-2), which had been 8th last week, fell to 14 after losing to No. 10 Auburn 28-18.

The Ducks also moved ahead of Notre Dame (8-2). Last week Notre Dame was one position ahead of Oregon at 9. The Fighting Irish did move up one spot to 8. Notre Dame got by Syracuse (1-9). 34-10. The Irish will play Stanford (5-5, 4-4) at Stanford Stadium on Saturday. A win by Stanford will make the Cardinal bowl eligible for one of the Pac-10 six bowl games.

USC (10-0) remained at 1 with its 50-42 win over # 19 Fresno State (8-2). Texas stayed at No. 2 and was idle last Saturday. The Longhorns (10-0) will face Texas A&M (5-5) on Friday. LSU (4) beat Mississippi (3-7) last Saturday and have one game remaining against Arkansas (4-6) on Friday. The Tigers of LSU are 9-1 for the season. Virginia Tech (9-1) at No. 5 has one game left with North Carolina (5-5), however no date has yet been determined when that earlier postponed game would be played.

Penn State (3, 10-1) and Ohio State (6, 9-2) have concluded their regular seasons.

USC has one game remaining with UCLA (11, 9-1) on December 4th at the Coliseum in Los Angeles.
