EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon sophomore guard Malik Hairston has withdrawn from the 2005 USA Basketball team trials camp due to a pulled groin. However, Hairston’s teammate Aaron Brooks will be attending the camp, which runs Thursday through Saturday in Dallas, Texas, as scheduled.

Malik Hairston’s injury is not severe, according to team medical personnel, and the Detroit, Mich., native is expected to make a full recovery. Hairston, a 2005 Pac-10 all-freshman selection, added he hopes to be able to participate in next month’s Jordan camp, as well as future USA Basketball team trials.

Brooks, a junior point guard from Seattle, Wash., is one of 20 collegians competing for 12 spots on the 2005 USA 21 & Under National Team that will try to defend its gold medal at the FIBA World Championships Aug. 5-14 in Mar de Plata, Argentina.
