Visiting Oregon On Monday

Drayton Carlberg

When you think of Oregon and players from De La Salle High School, usually that means the Spartans in Concord, Calif., but this time it means Drayton Carlberg from Minneapolis, Minn., who tweeted earlier on Saturday that he had arrived in Oregon and will visit the University of Oregon on Monday. Meanwhile, he headed over to the Oregon coast for the weekend.

Drayton Carlberg, 6-5, 275 is a three-star offensive lineman ranked 46th as an offensive tackle by Scout.com, but the Ducks may be interested in him as a defensive tackle.

Last January, Carlberg attended the U.S. Army All-America Bowl Combine held in San Antonio, Texas, and was listed as a defensive lineman, and according to his high school coach, Sean McMenomy , Carlberg had a strong showing in San Antonio.

Of course, outside observers can not be certain as to what the Ducks are thinking because they will not speak to reporters about recruiting.

"I don't want to get into that element of it too much, other than to say we're really excited about how recruiting is going, and anything more than that just gets slippery." responded Oregon Head Coach Mark Helfrich to a reporter's question about recruiting during the Pac-12 Media Day last week in Hollywood.

Hopefully, following his trip to the Eugene campus, Carlberg will fill Scout.com in on how his trip went and what position the Ducks are recruiting him for.
