Olathe (Kan.) North linebacker Jimmie Swain has ended his recruitment process. He's headed to Oregon.

Four-star Olathe (Kan.) North linebacker Jimmie Swain ended his recruitment process on Sunday by announcing that he will be attending Oregon next season. Swain made the announcement Sunday night at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on Fox Sports 1, choosing the Ducks over Arkansas, Michigan State and Texas A&M.

The one-time TCU verbal commit becomes the Ducks 17th verbal commitment and only linebacker. Hawaiian LB prospect Jordan Hoiem was the Ducks first verbal commitment of the recruiting cycle, but retired over the summer, leaving Swain as the only linebacker currently attached to the 2014 class.

Swain committed to TCU back in August, but reopened his recruitment shortly after an official visit to Oregon over Thanksgiving. He then proceeded to take official visits to Texas A&M and Arkansas before making his announcement. During the telecast, he praised his mom and the Oregon coaches for making her feel at ease through the process.

The new addition of Swain fills in a noticeable gap in the recruiting class for Oregon. Without Hoiem, the Ducks struck out with Joey Alfieri and Bobby Okereke, both of whom ended up verbally committing to Stanford. However, linebackers coach Don Pellum kept his focus on Swain, even after his commitment to TCU. Following his official visit, Swain said that Oregon was a place where he felt he could "fit in".

"It's just really great to know that I fit in so well with the program and with the players, and that I get along with the coaches," he said. "Even the system they are doing, I feel like I could pick it up. I mean, not easily, but I feel it's a system I can thrive in and do well in."

Swain will join a Ducks defense that will find itself under new leadership next season. Long time defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti retired following the Ducks 30-7 victory over Texas in the Alamo Bowl, marking the end of a 36-year coaching career, 21 of which he spent with Oregon.
