EUGENE - How close was De'Anthony Thomas to taking the field against Washington on Saturday? Apparently not very. Thomas told media members Monday that he "wasn't close at all."

EUGENE - How close was De'Anthony Thomas to taking the field against Washington on Saturday? Apparently not very. Thomas told media members Monday that he "wasn't close at all."

Thomas followed that up by saying that he didn't practice Monday either, which begs the question, just when will he be able to go again?

What about Saturday versus Washington State?

"Hopefully yes, but like I said, I'm still taking it one day at a time and going from there," he said when asked about the game with the Cougars.

Thomas said it's his decision to practice each day, and is still dealing with soreness from the ankle sprain he suffered against California on Sept. 28.

It should come as little surprise that he isn't rushing himself back into action. Thomas told the media last Wednesday that he wouldn't play unless he was 100-percent, a status he obviously hasn't reached yet.

"I'm just not ready for it yet. I'm still trying recover and get back to how I was before the season started," he reiterated Monday.

The Oregonian's Jon Canzano reported Thomas was going to give it "a go" the night prior to the Ducks win versus the Huskies.

"People always want to talk about me and how I'm feeling, and I feel like people need to worry about themselves and let me live my life," he said of reports on his injury.

NOTABLE QUOTABLES-

Thomas on if quarterback Marcus Mariota is the nation's top player:

"Yes, besides myself, yes. He's the best quarterback in the country, you can say that."

Coach Scott Frost on inheriting the "fast car" that is the Oregon offense:

"Somebody told me I was driving a really fast car. I don't feel like I'm driving. I feel like I'm the little GPS system for Marcus. I'm just the one telling him which roads to go down and he's doing a great job."

Coach Gary Campbell on Thomas' health:

"He's running around. He was at the game. He was warming up. He ran around, looked good to me."

Campbell on Thomas Tyner in the passing game:

"My feeling is that he's got a lot of speed, if I can get him into space and let him run, then he could do some things for us."

Tyner has four receptions for 53 yards the last two games.
