Oregon came one step closer to filling its roster Friday, as it added former Houston guard Joseph Young to the team.
Young, a 6-foot-3 guard, was Houston's leading scorer and second best in Conference USA with 18 points per contest. The 2012-13 season marked his second year of play for the Cougars, but will have just one more season to play while at Oregon if he is not awarded a hardship waiver by the NCAA.
The immediacy of Young's eligibility is still in question, but he has a fighting chance of gaining a hardship waiver, as Young left Houston because his father Michael (who was employed by the University as an assistant coach) was recently let go.
Young becomes the third player to transfer to the Ducks this season, replacing three who transferred out following the 2012-13 season.
The addition of Young gives Oregon 12 scholarship players this fall and Oregon is still awaiting test scores for Brazilian center Cristiano Felicio.
Young attended the same high school as current Duck Damyean Dotson.
