Six teams were unable to complete their rounds today due to inclement weather and will complete their final holes on Thursday before the third round.
The Ducks moved up from a tie for 20th place overall to a tie for 17th place overall after shooting 7-over 295 on Wednesday. No. 1 USC (284-276-560) pulled far ahead on day two, shooting an impressive 12-under 276, while No. 2 Alabama (288-284-572) and No. 3 Duke (286-289-575) finished the day in second and third place, respectively.
No. 38 Cassy Isagawa (75-71-146) moved up to 28th place after shooting 1-under 71 in round two, while fellow sophomore Cali Hipp (76-75-151) shot 3-over 75, finishing strong to tie for 80th overall. Senior Hanule Sky Seo (79-72-151) had a strong outing, ending even on the day while providing the highlight of the entire tournament thus far with a hole-in-one on hole 8.
“This was my first hole in one. It was 167 yards (to the green),” said Seo. “I used my 6-iron and was aiming for the middle of the green. I pulled it a little. The ball hit the hill but it rolled down. It slowed down near the hole and then went it. The hole before, I had a birdie putt, but it sat right next to the lip. This hole-in-one made up for it. I thought of this as birdie-birdie, but an awesome one.”
Freshman Caroline Inglis (74-77-151) ended the day tied for 80th, while senior Avery Sills (76-79-155) rounded things out for the Ducks.
“Sky played incredibly steady golf today, just what we needed from her,” said head coach Ria Scott. “Sometimes its tough to calm down from the excitement of a hole-in-one but she handled it well and gave herself lots of birdie chances coming in. As usual, our Ducks did not give up. Cassy dropped some more putts coming in, and so did Cali with her birdie-birdie finish.”
No. 1 Stephanie Meadow of Alabama moved into first place on the individual leaderboard after shooting 5-under 67 in the second round. No. 2 Annie Park (70-67-137) of USC finished a stroke ahead of No. 90 Jenny Hahn (71-67-138) of Vanderbilt for second place.
