Michiah Quick Talks Vegas and Ducks

Michiah Quick

Fresno (Calif.) Central wide receiver/cornerback Michiah Quick has been racking up offers and recently put his talents on display at the NLA 7on7 in Las Vegas over the weekend. Here, he discusses his time there and his interest in Oregon.

Quick's team, DB Guru, went 4-2 and were eliminated during the semi-finals on the second day. But, the experience was positive for Quick, who was able to catch up with old friends.

"It was cool," Quick said. "I've known almost of the guys out there since eighth grade summer because that's when I started going to camp. Every time we get a little bigger, a little faster and a little stronger."

Quick, ranked the top receiver in the country by Scout, has over a dozen offers from schools. His favorites inclued Oklahoma, Notre Dame, USC and Oregon, along with Alabama.

"I'm just trying to see where I can get in, fit in and just play my roll to help the team," Quick said.

With Oregon, Quick has been in contact with new offensive coordinator and former wide receivers coach Scott Frost who has liked what he has seen so far.

"He's been telling me to keep my grades up and I've been doing that and working hard," Quick said. "He said he likes my performance on the field and he said I can do a lot with the ball in my hands in space. "

The Ducks have a 56-10 record over the past five seasons with four BCS appearances and two victories. Their continued success on the football field is one of the prime reasons Quick has them a favorite.

"That's what Oregon does," Quick said. "They win conference games, they win bowl games. For them to just keep winning year after year…seeing that is really attractive."

Quick said he plans on taking a trip up to Oregon, along with all of his favorites, but he doesn't have a timetable set as to when that will happen.

"I haven't been yet, but I do plan on going to see what it's like to be an Oregon Duck," Quick said.

Before he goes all-in on recruiting, Quick said that he wants to remain focused on his last year of high school.

"I'm still young, I've got another whole year ahead of me and I still have to maintain grades and everything, so I'm just focused on that right now," Quick said.

Quick prides himself as a leader on the field and credits his coaches with instilling an importance on taking care of the little things that he says has "gotten me to where I am now."

"The little things like being on time, shirt tucked in, shoes tied," Quick said. "Technique on lifting, stretching, running, just all of the little stuff that adds up to winning games and being a champ."
