ANOTHER GAME WHERE Oregon State starts out strong in the first half. Another game in which the Beavs…
HOOPS: Burton's double-double not enough
The reason OSU was in that position was Joe Burton, who turned in a double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds. His five assists were mostly the spectacular variety, over the back and no-look passes that kept OSU in the thick of things on the road.
Roberto Nelson scored 20 points and Ahmad Starks added 15, but Stanford hit a season-high 14 treys.
Devon Collier chipped in 10 and Eric Moreland came off the bench to add eight points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Oregon State's last four losses have been by an average of less than four points.
The Beavers (11-11, 1-8) fought back from a 10-point first-half deficit to take a 53-51 lead with 11:50 to play. The teams traded leads 10 times after that.
Stanford shot 56 percent beyond the arc. The Cardinal got 17 points off 11 Oregon State turnovers to hold a 35-33 lead at halftime.
The Beavers return home to face Utah (10-11, 2-7) at Gill Coliseum on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a nationally-televised game on the Pac-12 Networks. Utah upset Colorado in their last game.
