Jackson thrilled about local offer

Gardena (Calif.) Serra defensive back Adoree Jackson, arguably the top prospect in the West region for the class of 2014, landed the offer he has been waiting a while for on Tuesday.

Adoree Jackson will be one of the nation's top corner prospects next fall and could be the top corner in the state right now as a junior. He had a big season leading the Cavaliers to the Div III state championship and is racking up scholarship offers from coast to coast.

One offer Jackson had been waiting on was from local favorite USC. After a Tuesday conversation, his waiting is over.

"I talked with Lane Kiffin on the phone and he told me I had a scholarship," Jackson said. "I was with Coach Altenberg in his office and Kiffin called. He talked to Coach Altenberg and then passed the phone over to me. When he told me he was offering me a scholarship, I was so excited, I was grinning from ear to ear for a while after.

"USC is a school I've liked for a while now and I was wondering when they would offer. I wasn't nervous or anything but was just trying to be patient and wait it out. It means a lot to have an offer from them because with the limited scholarships, I know they can only offer a handful of players."

Jackson has consistently listed USC along with LSU as his favorites but said he still plans to go through the recruiting process before making a decision.

"I'm not ready to commit anywhere," Jackson said. "I plan to go through the process and take my time with everything. I like USC a lot and I'm pumped to have this offer but I want to take some visits and make sure I'm doing the right thing before I commit anywhere."
