McGuire Impressed With Louisiana

Vandebilt High (La) athlete Elijah McGuire (5'11,180) is one of the state's best kept secrets in prep football. After leading the state prep ranks in rushing this year, the shifty McGuire is becoming one of Louisiana's top uncommitted prospects. Go inside the Cajun Redzone to find out where UL stands with McGuire.

With a large number of Louisiana's top prep football prospects committed and off the board, Vandebilt's Elijah McGuire remains uncommitted. The 5'11,180- pound senior with 4.5 speed led the state regular season in rushing with 2,094 yards and 26 touchdowns. McGuire remains uncommitted after scoring a 16 on his first ACT, but after recently retaking the test and taking a visit down to UL in Lafayette, the speedy athlete is excited about the prospect of playing college football next year.

"I hadn't had a lot of interest until they talked to me about coming up to Lafayette for a visit," McGuire stated. But after my visit, they are really pushing me hard and want me to commit to their program. I like the staff and Coach Hudspeth up there; its a program that's on its way up right now."

What did McGuire think about his visit to Cajun Field for the Western Kentucky game?

"I was definitely impressed by the excitement around the stadium and in the stands," mentioned Elijah. "I really enjoyed the game atmosphere and visiting with Coach Rodrigue and Coach Hudspeth."

Where does McGuire stand right now?

"I definitely like ULL right now," McGuire stated. "I set my official visit up for January 18th and have some time to think about it. I could see myself playing there in that offense and being close enough to home for my family to watch me play college football."

With high school basketball season in full swing, McGuire has kept busy playing point guard for Vandebilt High.

"We had a game earlier tonight against H.L Bourgeois High and won," Elijah mentioned. We're kind of small, but we can shoot the ball. I'm keeping busy with basketball and trying to get a little stronger, I'm weighing about 180-pounds right now. Right now I'm focused on basketball and my academics, but I'm looking forward to coming up to ULL for a visit."

McGuire stated that he has a 2.5 GPA in his core and is awaiting the results from his recent ACT test.
