Brown Begins Officials

Daquawn Brown

Los Angeles (Calif.) cornerback Daquawn Brown recaps his official visit to Pullman and discusses his plans for the next few weeks...

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey cornerback Daquawn Brown tripped up North last weekend for his Washington State official visit, really enjoying his time in Pullman.

"It was great; I had a lot of fun. Me and my guy Sebastian LaRue went down and we had a lot of fun. We enjoyed seeing the campus, enjoyed the game. It was really cold, but we had a really good time," he said.

Though the Cougs weren't able to nab the win versus UCLA, the loss didn't hinder Brown's game day experience.

"I really enjoyed the game. It was freezing, but it was so much fun. I like the fans a lot. It's a real college atmosphere up there. You would think that the team is 10-0 the way the fans were loving their team in Pullman and all the support they have, the way they were cheering," he said.

Brown's host for the weekend was his friend and former Dorsey teammate, true freshman linebacker Jeremiah Allison.

"We had a lot of fun. They treated me very well up there. We went on a campus tour and I talked with some students, seeing how life on campus as a student is. They showed me around Pullman. We had a great time," he said.

The athlete also spent some time with Dave Emerick, as well as receivers coach Dennis Simmons.

"They want me to come in and play early, so that's something else I really like about them. They are recruiting me at cornerback, but I might be able to go both ways; you never know," he said.

Post visit, Brown says he's liking the Cougs even more than before.

Though his plans to attend Saturday's UCLA - USC rivalry game fell through, Brown was able to watch the Bruins, another team he is seriously considering, nab the victory.

"I liked UCLA's defense a lot. They were very fiesty and were after Matt Barkley a lot. The corners weren't backing down. The defense was shocking, and the way the offense moved the ball, I just didn't expect that from UCLA," he said.

He plans on taking an official visit to UCLA in December. He's also set his official visit to Washington for November 30th, and is looking to officially visit both Arizona State and Boise State in December, as well.

Brown will announce his collegiate decision at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl Game on January 4th.

Though his senior season is now over, Brown reflected proudly upon the past few months.

"Our team got as a far as we could. I think the legacy I left is that I brought intensity to the team and was very motivational, but that I'm a funny guy, too. I feel like I learned a lot this season and that I'm ready to play in college," he said.
