Jordan Named to Fourth Presason Watch List

For the fourth time this pre-season, Oregon senior defensive end Dion Jordan has been named to an award watch list, this time the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year award.

According to a media release from the University of Oregon, Dion Jordan is one of six Pac-12 players among 40 from around the country to be considered for the Hendricks award. Earlier this summer Jordan was named to the Bednarik Award for defense, the Rotary Lombardi Award (lineman) and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (defense).

Jordan, who began his collegiate career as a receiver and tight end for the Ducks, earned first-team all-conference honors last season after rating fifth in the Pac-12 in quarterback sacks (7.5) and seventh in tackles for loss (13). He recorded all but 1.5 of his sack total over UO's final seven games in 2011.

Previous winners of the Ted Hendricks award include Virginia's Chris Long, brother of current Oregon offensive lineman Kyle Long. Oregon opens its fall camp on August 6th and will start the season at home against Arkansas State, the 2011 Sun Belt Conference champion. The game against Arkansas State will be broadcast on ESPN and is scheduled for kickoff at 7:30 p.m. PT.
