EUGENE – University of Oregon football fans attending Saturday’s Spring Game are encouraged to take advantage of free Sports Shuttles to and from Autzen Stadium when the Ducks take part in their final football workout of the spring.
Kickoff for the Spring Game presented by Bi-Mart is slated for 11 a.m., with admission for the intrasquad scrimmage benefitting Food for Lane County. Those in attendance are requested to donate three non-perishable food items, with the game also serving as a backdrop to honor all men and women serving in the military.
Shuttles will depart for Autzen Stadium beginning at 9 a.m. from South Eugene High School (19th and Patterson) and the northwest parking lot of Valley River Center, and will run until the start of the game. Buses will return to the Park-and-Ride locations immediately after the conclusion of the game and will run for a minimum of 30 minutes after the end of the contest. The shuttles will not run continuously to and from the stadium during the expected two hours the game is in progress.
Construction in the vicinity of Autzen Stadium – most notably the Casanova Center expansion and the new women’s soccer and lacrosse complex – have resulted in fewer parking options than what are normally available, with fans choosing to drive their personal vehicles encouraged to car pool and arrive at the stadium early.
The Moshofsky Center will open at 9 a.m., highlighted by interactive displays sponsored by branches of the armed forces, the Oregon National Guard and the Coast Guard. Included among the activities open to the general public will be a rock-climbing wall, an inflatable obstacle course and a display of military vehicles.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the Mo Plaza between the Moshofsky Center and Autzen Stadium, as well as on the main concourse on the south side of the stadium.
Parking in the lot at the east end of the stadium will commence at 8:30 a.m. and will cost $5 per vehicle. Parking in the privately- run lots across the street from the stadium along Martin Luther King Blvd. (Lane County Mental Health, the Boy Scouts, Serbu and the Masonic Lodge) also are expected to be open Saturday, with admission being $5 per vehicle.
Standard traffic control patterns and enforcement in effect during regular-season Oregon football home games will be utilized for traffic exiting the Autzen Stadium vicinity following the scrimmage. Motorists traveling northbound over the Ferry Street Bridge will not be allowed to turn eastbound onto Martin Luther King Blvd. from approximately 12:30 p.m. to about 3 p.m.
Adding to the anticipated amount of traffic in the area will be a 2 p.m. baseball game in PK Park, as the Ducks will entertain California in a Pac-12 Conference match-up.
Last year’s Oregon Spring Game attracted a record-crowd of 43,468 spectators, in addition to accumulating over 68,000 pounds of food and raising in excess of $1,200 for Food for Lane County.
