Cornerback Cameron Walker out of Loyola HS (Los Angeles, Calif.) took a visit to San Diego State's…
Oregon Will Visit Walker This Spring
"Not from the University of Oregon, just from Oregon State."
What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?
"I've been getting their letters, questionnaires, and I've been getting the e-mail that everyone gets. I've talked to coach [John] Neal a little bit, and he said he'd come down [to visit] in the spring."
In your conversations with coach Neal, what have the two of you discussed?
"We're getting to know each other a little bit; what he expects I guess and what I want out of a college and all that stuff."
How often would you say that you've been in contact with coach Neal?
"Not very often. We've talked once or twice...The last time was three weeks ago, maybe."
What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?
"I'm very interested in Oregon...The vibe, the uniforms, all their facilities and everything and how they play fast, how they seem like a team everything; life up there seems pretty cool. I've looked at their videos on their website and everything."
Have you visited Oregon before?
"I've been to the state once for a wedding, but I've never been to the school."
How would you describe yourself as a player?
"I'm hard working, fearless...I can do everything, all the time. [I'm] Obedient, I guess, and I work well with my teammates in communication and all other aspects. I'm a physical defensive back, but I can cover too; I'll man somebody up, but I can come in in run support no problem."
Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?
"At the collegiate level, I'd have to say my favorite corner is Tyrann Mathieu from LSU and Greg Reid from Florida State. And in the league, I like Charles Woodson a lot."
What are you looking for in a program?
"First and foremost is academics; I'll make sure wherever I'm going, that I'll get a good education so I'll have a fall back plan in case football, I guess, doesn't take me as far as I'd like it. Besides that, I want the school to have a family atmosphere like I have at my high school right now, I really want to get along with my coaches -- my position coach especially -- and my teammates very well. And just campus life too, cause I don't want to be bored out of my mind."
Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study in college?
"Not really, but now I'm looking in to pharmacy, sports medicine, or business."
What are some of the offers you hold right now from other schools?
"I only have Oregon State, San Diego State, and Michigan."
Are you hearing from anybody else that maybe hasn't offered yet, but that you've been in regular contact with?
"Besides the little generic mail that everybody sends, not really. I haven't talked to any coaches..."
As far camps, unofficial visits, and Junior Days go, where have you been and where do you plan on going over the next few months?
?"I have been to USC's Junior Day, UCLA's Junior Day, I set up a visit for Michigan for I think the weekend of April 12-14, I'm talking to coach [Tony] White at San Diego State to see if I can come down next weekend during my spring break, and that's all that I have planned right now. I'm trying to talk to my parents and see if I can go to Oregon State, and while I'm up there, I'll probably see Oregon, too. If I go to see my brother in northern California where he goes to college, I'll probably take a visit to Stanford and Cal just to see what everything is like."
