Oregon's Pace Attractive To Campos

West Des Moines (IA) Valley OL Jake Campos

Though slightly slender of build, West Des Moines (IA) Valley offensive lineman Jake Campos is regarded as one of the Midwest's best offensive line prospects for the 2013 class. Though many Big 12 and Big Ten teams are in hot pursuit of his signature, Campos tells eDuck that Oregon's offense could be a "good fit."

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"I do not, no."

What, if any, contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?

"During the season, they were sending me the game day fliers saying what had happened during the games. We sent them an e-mail, I think last week, confirming that they got my game film that I sent them earlier and they said yes and I think I'm going to talk to the o-line coach [Steve Greatwood] when he gets back. I think he's out this week."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"I've heard really good things about the campus...I'm looking in to engineering, but I've heard that the campus is just beautiful."

As a football program, what about Oregon piques your interest in them?

"I really like just the style of their offense. They're a fast-paced offense and they have a lot of pass pro and that's my strong suit; a lot of pass pro and more get off the ball and keep going, going, going. I really like the style and I think I'd be a good fit there."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I have really fast feet and I'm pretty athletic. I think I'm strong at pass pro and I think I need to work a little bit more on my run blocking and getting stronger."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?

"Not really."

What are you looking for in a program?

"First is going to be academics; that needs to be solid. After that, I need to feel comfortable on the campuses and just around the coaches and players and the football program after that. Mainly just the people and the school."

Is distance a factor for you?

"I'd like to stay a little bit closer to home, but if I go out to any campus and I really like it, then I think I'd go there."

What are some of the offers that you currently have right now?

"I have an offer from Missouri, Iowa State, Iowa, and Purdue."

Have there been any other schools that you've been in contact with, but haven't offered yet?

"I don't know if they're close to offering, but we've been talking to Oklahoma and coach (Bruce) Kittle and we're going to go down and see the campus on spring break; we're going down to Texas to visit some relatives. And Notre Dame...I've been talking to coach (Bob) Elliott a lot. He was my recruiting coach from Iowa State and now he moved there and he's still got the area."

Do you have a top five or a list of favorites at this point?

"No, I'm pretty open right now."

As far as camps, unofficial visits, and Junior Days go, where have you been and where do you plan on going over the next few months?

"This weekend, we're going up to Iowa State for a Junior Day. We plan on getting out to the Wisconsin camp, the Missouri camp, and the Notre Dame camp...I've gone to the Iowa and Iowa State camp, at least one game of each there, and I've gone to the Iowa Junior Day and the Missouri Junior Day."
