After racking up a school record 288 yards against Arizona, Oregon junior running back LaMichael James was named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week conference official announced today. LaMichael James now leads the nation in rushing with a 153.25-yard per game rushing average and has 603 yards in four games. The 288-yard performance on Saturday night ranks tenth in conference history. James eclipsed the school single game rushing record held by Onterrio Smith (285 yards against WSU on Oct. 27, 2001) plus Smith's all-purpose record of 342 yards also against Washington State and came within 21 yards of the conference record set by Maurice Jones-Drew of UCLA set against Washington in 2004.

Today's honor is the third time for James to be named as he was also Player of the Week following the 2010 game against Stanford and the 2009 win over USC.

James was awarded the Doak Walker Award as the country's best running back at the end of last season.

According to a media release from the University of Oregon, James was also named to the Paul Hornung Award weekly honor roll for the second time this season and also was selected as the running back of the week for the College Football Performance Awards for the second time this season. James also received a "helmet sticker" from ESPN analyst Mark May during the network's College Football Final weekly wrap-up show.
