Compton (CA) Dominguez DB Alphonso Marsh

The pairing of Compton (CA) Dominguez four-star defensive backs Alphonso Marsh and Brandon Beaver gives Dominguez High one of the most fearsome secondary tandems in the entire country. Both Beaver and Marsh were visited by Oregon defensive backs coach John Neal on Monday and eDuck caught up with Marsh to get the latest on his recruitment.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No I don't right now, but an Oregon coach came down here Monday (May 2)."

Which coach from Oregon was visiting you?

"It was the defensive backs coach. John Neal."

What kinds of things did you and coach Neal discuss during his visit?

"We had a nice talk. He hasn't given no offer yet, but I can see it coming pretty soon. We talked about the style of Oregon DB's and how they play. He gave me some pointers in how I can improve my game and he told me how it is up there. I really like him. He said hopefully by next week (I'll have an offer). He said they're gonna talk it over and see how thing turn out. I just hope I get one from them."

What kind of contact have you had with coach Neal since the recruiting process started for you?

"Pretty good contact, basically."

How often would you say you're in contact with him?

"Lately, it's been twice a week."

Has it been phone calls and e-mails, mostly?

"E-mails basically and Facebook."

Has coach Neal been the only coach from Oregon that you've been in contact with?

"Yeah."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"Basically, that's one of my favorite schools."

What is it about Oregon that stands out to you?

"The players. My favorite players are there. That's what I think of."

Who are your favorite players at Oregon?

"Darron Thomas and Cliff Harris."

Are you and Brandon Beaver looking to play together at the next level or you guys looking to do your own thing?

"Basically, we want to play together, but it's also whatever is best for the both of us."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I'm fast and I got a lot of style. I like playing with a lot of style and I talk a lot on the field."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?

"Darrelle Revis."

What are you looking for in a program?

"An education, really."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"Sociology."

Do you have a timetable for when you would like to have a decision made?

"No. Not till after the season so I can focus on getting through the season first."

What are some of the offers that you currently hold from other schools?

"Washington, UCLA, Arizona, Tennessee, SMU and New Mexico."

Out of the schools that have offered you and that you have spoke with, do you have any favorites?

"No I don't. I'm all open to any schools."

Do you have any plans to go to any camps or take any unofficial visits?

"Yeah, I'm planning on going to some camps: the Arizona camp and also going up to Washington with my football team for a passing league. We'll also be going back down to Oregon for a camp and a high school passing league."
