Tuesday practice report

Tuesday's workout session for the Oregon Ducks was characterized as the team playing faster with more intensity. Even during the normal drills the team was more focused and worked harder compared to some practices last season.

(PHOTO LEFT) Darius Sanders (95), Robby Valenzuala (99), Junior Siavii (94) and Victor Filpie (58) observe from the west endzone. The coaches including Defensive Coordinator Nick Aliotti and Secondary Coach John Neal were very vocal and demonstrative with their charges.

Overall, the defense had a better day. Red shirt freshman free safety J.D. Nelson and junior linebacker Jerry Matson had interceptions and sophomore defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was unstoppable. Another player looking bigger and faster was senior defensive end Quinn Dorsey.

The offensive unit did not have the success today that the defense did. Junior running back Ryan Shaw took most of the carries.

One note, sophomore defensive end Devan Long again participated in conditioning drills, but was not in pads for the scrimmage.

David Henshaw contributed to this report.
