The University of Oregon released a statement on Tuesday night indicating it had sought assistance from the Pacific-10 Conference "regarding the eligibility of former member of the school's men's basketball program during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons."
The statement went on to say that "upon obtaining information relating to the the student-athletes, the institution immediately contacted the conference" on Aug. 2, 2010 and the information was then forwarded to the NCAA.
While the University would not say which players were involved, citing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA),
The Eugene Register-Guard
said in a
story
published on Wednesday morning, that one of the players under scrutiny is
Michael Dunigan
and that he and several other players are being "investigated by the school over 'extra benefits."
The
official roster
still lists Dunigan however, the paper also states that he may have signed a professional contract to play in Israel.
The University has not made any statement regarding Dunigan, though when the reports first surfaced that Dunigan had left the school to play overseas, a spokesman for the Athletic Department told eDuck Sports on Sept. 2nd, that the school had no comment even though admitting they had seen the reports in media about Dunigan moving on.
