Barner and Harris Players of the Week

The Pacific-10 Conference today announced that sophomore running back Kenjon Barner and sophomore corner back Cliff Harris were the Pac-10 Players of the Week for offense and special teams respectively. Both garnered the honor after the Ducks demolished New Mexico 72-0 in the home opener at Autzen Stadium.

The Player of the Week honor is given out weekly and this was the first such for the 2010 football season.

Kenjon Barner, made his first start for Oregon in place of LaMichael James, who sat out the New Mexico game due to a suspension stemming from an off field incident last winter.

Barner was sensational against the Lobos as he racked up 147 yards on 17 carries and scored four rushing touchdowns. He also added a 60-yard pass reception for a score.

Cliff Harris, Barner's back up as a punt return specialist, scored twice to tie a Pac-10 record and set a school mark. The returns of 61 and 64 yards were on consecutive punts in the second quarter of the game.

Senior linebacker Casey Matthews was nominated for the defensive honor, but no one on the Duck defense had more than five tackles, even though Oregon shut out New Mexico and held the Lobos to no points and only 107 total yards of total offense. Matthews recorded an interception during the game.
